Weekend Rack Report

So on Saturday, Nordstrom Rack had a special event and opened a couple of hours early at 8 am.  They called twice about it - once Hubby took the message and got no details, the second time I was able to hear a voicemail and get the details.  They really did it up - a table with Starbucks coffee and goodies set up outside just like for the Anniversary Sale at the regular Nordstrom - and inside, bottled orange juice and water and cookies set up on another table.  They were also holding a drawing for a $250 shopping spree.  I don't recall anything like this in recent memory - if they have done a lot of these events, I've missed them.  It was not very crowded at the opening - maybe a couple dozen people when they first opened.  I was there for about 45 minutes and it was very easy shopping with no lines or wait for a dressing room.  I didn't get a postcard for this event like they usually send out for new merch or markdowns - just the phone calls.

Anyway, it was a special preview for their Big Brands event coming up (I did get a postcard for this) and they had some racks of clothing that were an additional 35% off (three in the savvy/tbd section which is my favorite).   On one of those racks I found a darling summery Diane von Furstenberg  top - the Natone in Rhombus Citron.  The style (gathers and flowy with double spaghetti straps) and colors (yellow with a little blue and brown and pink beads sewn across the top) totally appealed to me.  And what a mark-down:  this was $198.00 when in the regular store, now priced at $79.97 with an additional 35% off = $51.98.  It's a special little top that I think will be perfect with strappy sandals, capris, and lots of colors of cardis, on my more colorful-feeling days!

I also found a great little jacket by Hinge.  I don't know that these were ever in the regular Nordstrom... some things I think are made specifically for The Rack.  Anyway, I loved the fit and color and felt it was fairly priced at $44.97.

Hinge jacket in "Hemlock", $44.97

Diane von Furstenberg Natone top in "Rhombus Citron", regularly $198.00, on sale for $51.98

  3. Yes - I think one time I was looking for a specific brand and they told me to leave my phone number so maybe that is why, though that was years ago. I am SURE they would be happy to include you, so you should ask to be put on this list too!

  5. Love the cami - so cute! And great jacket, too. I have a Rack about 15 minutes away, but I hardly ever go there any more because I just usually don't have the patience to sort through everything. (I used to go while my son was in speech and would just cruise the kids section since there wasn't time to look/try on/buy for myself.) I think I should make the effort more often.

  6. thanks guys! It's a little different (for me) but I like it a lot! I am thinking desert brown and bright blue Jackie cardis for starters... :)

Heidi - I know exactly how you feel about the Rack. You definitely have to be in the mood for it... sometimes there is just so much to sort through and I've seen well worn returns for sale more than once! But every now and then you find that gem! I got my Tory Burch lime green Reese's there and I think all of my high-end jeans. They have great jeans. When I go, I try to get there as soon as they open so I don't have to deal with lines and crowds and can just zip through and scan and try on quickly if I need to :)

  7. I agree, too, on the "hit-or-miss" feeling of the Rack. I have found two pairs of great jeans, my William Rast jeans and my True Religion's....and the shoe section, I have seen some real deals!! Plus, got a great deal on a pair of sneak's for my little boy.....for only $12!!

  8. I got my True Religions there too! I've been wanting to try William Rast... sometimes they have tons but not much lately. I once got a pair of A-pocket Sevens for my daughter for under $10! The lady ringing it up was like "What?Wow!" But that's what they were priced!
