OOTN 5.21.11 {BR, TB, and F21}

This past weekend my husband and I went out for a fantastic dinner and I got a chance to wear some heels. Well, wedges actually, but they measure 4 1/2 inches with the platform so they aren't something I wear day to day (that ballet-flat-comfort-zone of mine, you know.)

Banana Republic is having another flash sale this evening - 5-8pm local time in-store and online - all women's styles (the email had an asterisk at this point so there may be some exclusions) 40% off. Code BRHAPPY.

Tory Burch Friends & Fans {30% off}

I was alerted to a Tory Burch sale by a tweet on my BlackBerry from Editor's Secret early this morning, so jumped out of bed and came downstairs to make some coffee and shop the TB site before the rest of the family got up. I was thrilled to see the Tumbled Leather Reva Ballerina Flat in Royal Tan that I missed out on during the shopbop F&F. But sadly, quickly found out the code doesn't work on Revas. (Should have known... isn't it always like that?!) So they are still full price (though shipping would have been free) and I'm going to wait.

It's just as well as I am trying to save up for a new handbag and I am almost there. I almost never do Black Friday and resisted Cyber Monday, except for one little pair of Kendra Scott earrings... though all these sales and promos which just keep coming are making it tough!

If you are not looking for Revas, there are lots of other great items on the site of course, including a pretty big sale section. The only other items I see excluded are gift cards and "Tory Burch Foundation Product". The code is FRIENDSFANS and is good December 3 - 6. I'm sure I'll be back for another look before it's over!

Happy Shopping!

Tory Burch River Fisherman Sandal

If you've read my blog for a while (or even if you haven't), you probably know I love a good Tory Burch shoe sale. I'm partial to her flats (easier to chase children and puppies), but at the last extra 20% off sale sale I decided to give some platform heels a try.

I'm back in the South on vacation - right now home where I grew up - so had these shipped to my parents' and when I took them out of the box my mom said "Where are you going to wear those?!"

True, they are not my usual. But I really like them and think they'll be great with some bootcut or skinny jeans. I have the high Sophie wedge in suede and have found them to be actually pretty comfortable for the height. These are too.

Tory Burch Mini Tevin Bag

Several years ago I bought a big black nylon kate spade diaper bag... and I've been carrying around big ol' totes ever since. Even though I don't need to haul around baby gear these days, I still feel most comfortable with a big bag that can hold whatever I (or my children) may need, plus a magazine, book, or my new fav, the ipad.

So the Tevin mini bag was a bit of a departure for me... but there are definitely times when a small crossbody (converts to shoulder bag with double chain straps that pull through) bag is perfect and I am so happy with this one. I particularly like the combination of the casual soft/slightly slouchy bag with a dressy gold chain. The logo is pretty small and discreet compared to many TB items. I've only found this tan color directly from Tory Burch -- and most retailers seem to be sold out online of the colors they carried -- but stores can usually be called directly to order. I've seen it in red at shopbop, green at Nordstrom, and black at Saks.

Oh and it isn't really mini mini... it holds quite a bit. One cell phone pocket and one zip pocket are inside, along with a mirror on a strap. Photo next to the Burch Bombe tote below for size reference.

Here are some pics:

...and I was asked about the pink Burch Bombe (Pop Pink) compared to the pink Miller sandals (Hibiscus Pink), so here's a pic of them together:

Wow... June already, and Summer is right around the corner - hard to believe. We have a super busy week and weekend ahead, (also making plans for a jam packed summer - can't wait for some sun!). I hope everyone is starting out a great week!

TB Bombe Burch Tote in Pop Pink

First off... sunshine! One of my kiddos has an outdoor event today that she is very excited about so I am happy for some sunbreaks!

On to the tote: the Bombe Burch... I know I still haven't reviewed the mini Tevin which arrived first, but I just had to carry this pretty pop of pink today. Actually, I'd call it more raspberry - a really beautiful hue. I was expecting more of an OPI Pink Margarita as I hadn't seen it in person before I ordered. Here are some snaps:

Inside, there are two pockets on one side that hold a phone/camera nicely and a zip pocket on the other side, with a zip closure on top; cute fabric lining.

For size reference, it's a little smaller than the Neverfull MM and Totally MM I've been carrying lately - but still roomy enough for all the essentials plus a book, magazine, or ipad. There are also four metal studs (just like the ones on the handles) on the bottom of the bag. The other side of the bag does not have a logo so you can just turn it around if you feel logo'd out!

I hope everyone is looking forward to a great weekend - it's almost here!

Tory Burch Friends & Family Sale!

I'd been waiting, waiting, waiting and this morning a happy email arrived from Shop It To Me: code FRIENDS2010 takes 30% off at Tory Burch (there are some exclusions - I found the list on examiner.com: Revas, Eddies, flip-flops, eyewear, TB foundation products, and gift cards). That leaves quite a lot of gorgeous shoes, bags, accessories and clothing. Free shipping, too! Ends tomorrow. (And don't forget 3.5% cash back through ebates.)

So this little bag I've been eyeing for a couple months is finally on its way:

OOTD 1.25.10 {+ I bought one more pair of pink shoes today}

How many pairs of pink Tory Burch shoes does one girl need?

Just one more, apparently.

But first, today's OOTD... since it was pouring -- pouring -- last night (and in the middle of the night I woke up to rain pounding the skylights) I thought it would be a good day for the kate spade Randis. Wouldn't you know, by mid-morning it's all sunny. I'm keeping them on anyway -- the ground is still wet.

Petit Bateau dress in black, black leggings, Target marl wrap sweater, kate spade Randi rainboots

Now for the shoes. I decided to go to Nordstrom Rack this morning for a quick scan of the goods. That place is so hit or miss for me and I don't go regularly but I have found some really nice scores there.

I've been in Spring/Summer shoe mode lately so I went to the little "designer" shoe area -- they will have kate spade, Burberry, Coach, Tory Burch, Taryn Rose, etc here... once I even found a pair of orange Jimmy Choo flats... should have bought those. No must-haves there for me today so I walked down the overwhelmingly stocked regular shoe section and wouldn't you know it...

...on a low shelf sat one little Tory Burch Kelsey Wedge Sandal in Arabian Pink in just my size, marked to $94.90 less 35% ($61.68) which is a very nice markdown from the original $250.00 last summer. And I did have my eye on these last summer.

So, I went to the shoe counter and the sales associate retrieved the match for me and I happily brought home my little score. I am pretty sure I can now keep myself from buying any more pink shoes this year. This is quite a different pink from my Millers and the flops anyway... these lean just a smidge toward coral, while those are more fruit punch and hot pink.

Tory Burch Kelsey Wedge Sandal in Arabian Pink croc print - no box but that's OK for $188.32 off

Hope everyone is having a great start to the week.

Tory Burch Delivery Day!

Friday was Tory Burch Delivery Day, courtesy Nordstrom and UPS! Nordstrom is running a great sale on some Tory styles and I finally ordered some Sophies as well as Miller sandals and some flip-flops, both in bright pink. My upcoming winter vacation wardrobe is obviously going to be centered around pink shoes.

Friday was also my Boden pre-order delivery day -- more on that soon!

First, the flip-flops. These fit just like your basic casual thong sandal -- they come in whole sizes only so I went up to a 9. They are a little roomy but fit fine. The upper straps are a little stiff but for me, the happy, bright printed footbed and cute little gold logo on pink make up for it. These will be great for hotel room-to-pool treks as well as going for pedis, and I'm sure they'll get lots of use when Seattle heats up in August too.

Now, the Millers... oh my gracious I looooovvvve these! They are super comfy and I love the style. The upper fits just above my foot (not snug against it - it's a little stiff) so it doesn't bother and is high enough on the foot to keep these securely on, even without a back. The footbed is slightly padded and is just a smidge shorter than some of my other sandals in 8.5 I compared these to - like Steve Madden Seeri, and a Mia style... my toes and heels come close to the edge (just cover the stitching) but there is still just a bit of space. I contemplated going up to a 9 instead of my regular 8.5 but I'm comfortable in these -- I think I could go with either size. Now I want these in another, more neutral hue too. Gold or silver??

And... the Sophies! What a great wedge. I got these in coconut suede and I think they will work well with quite a lot of my wardrobe. It is a pretty dark brown. I have a similar style of shoe by Steve Madden and these feel more comfortable on my foot. In the SM's (also 8.5) I had to put in a little heel gripper but these fit exactly right. Can't wait to wear them.

TB Reese Look-a-likes at Target

**update: thank you to mrs.anketell for letting me know they are the Mady Ballet Flat and are shown online here. They are available in the gold I've shown below, as well as pewter, black and red.**

They are missing the tassles, but otherwise -- wow -- these are quite a similar style to my gold Tory Burch Reese flats! I spotted them at Target on Friday. I don't see them online yet and can't recall the name but it started with an M -- Maya? Myra? Something like that... I'm heading to Target again today so I'll check and update later.

Tory Burch Review: The Holland Satchel in Black

Well, my TB Holland satchel arrived today and while I generally love the looks - and the size of this handbag is perfect - I will tell you that, sadly, it is already packed up and labeled to return.  And I really don't like returning.

First off, I must say that the TB folks did a very nice job packaging the bag and I noticed when reading return instructions that they also offer 10 day price adjustments, which is very nice.

Now, on to the Holland.  The leather is pretty and the print is just as I expected.  My first issue, though was that the hardware is shown on the website as gold and in reality, it was that dark black-looking silver metal.  A nice metal, just not what I thought I was ordering.

In addition to the hardware color, when it comes to the functionality of this bag, it just won't work for me.  The handles and shoulder strap I must say are great and just what I wanted.

But. The bag just doesn't open wide enough.  I had my husband look at it and he said it looked like I would scrape my hand on the zipper reaching into it.  Maybe I am just used to my LV Speedy and Neverful but it's too narrow of an opening and the opening is very stiff - there is something under the leather - contributing to keeping the bag from opening wide enough for me.  The clasp is very nice but it's a little cumbersome (for me) to have to do a clasp and a zipper.  And, since the bag is very stiff around the opening - and the rest of the bag is very thin and pliable - it makes it top heavy.  Personally, I didn't like this structure.  I'd prefer a satchel a little stiffer sided, if that makes sense.

So, while there are a lot of things I love about this bag - it really is beautiful - it just isn't perfect and I would enjoy looking at it, but not actually using it.  I see that one of the colors is already sold out on the website, so I'm sure many people are liking it, but personally, my search for the perfect black bag continues...

Hope everyone is having a nice Wednesday!

xoxo
