So... I'm usually pretty conscious of this when trying on/buying clothes anyway... but this video (click on link below) shows some actual testing to determine: how clean might those clothes be that are hanging on the racks?
Now, we all know germs are everywhere - so of course they are in clothing stores - but here is another good reason to wash before wearing:

Wow....thanks for posting this. I will definitely be washing all of my clothes now before I wear them for the first time.
ReplyDeleteI don't want to find out, being that half of the clothes out there are dryclean only! Scary!
ReplyDeleteHi there! Sorry, I haven't commented on your blog in a while now. I've been away for the past month and a half, visiting my family back home.
ReplyDeleteThanks for posting this link. I've always been told by my husband that I am being a bit paranoid about this issue (not buying things off the rack or display). But I can say that 90% of the time when I purchase an item, I ask the SA to bring out the new one from the stockroom. If they don't have one and the only one left is on the display, I just don't buy it. It might sound silly, but there it is.
Washing an item is a must for me before I wear it. But getting an item that has not been tried by anyone else and is completely "fresh" is even better.
oh icky ewwwww gross!!!!
ReplyDeleteAmanda - me too!
ReplyDeleteEma - I know! I hand wash A LOT of dry clean items or use dryel... I had a bad reaction to the chemicals from a drycleaned item once & I try to stay away from drycleaners (except Hubby's laundered shirts of course) :)
Mona P - welcome back! I think your inclination has some scientific evidence to back it up now! :)
EntertainingMom - my thoughts exactly.
Thanks for sharing. I am so grossed out that I'm looking in my closet for anything that I bought and have not washed yet.
