Sunday: Dinner at Duke's and a Visit to Louis Vuitton

We spent most of yesterday at the hotel pool - at The Hawaiian Village they have a round man-made beachy one with an island in the middle where you can rent paddle boats and canoes as well as the big pool with hot tubs and slides. The kids could stay in the water all day.

For lunch we went over to Tropics again where I had a watermelon mojito and cheeseburger & fries -- the slaw was really good -- spicy with cilantro and edamame. After that -- back to the pool. We finally got our three out of the water in the early evening and Hubby went for a run up to Diamond Head while the little ones and I rested a bit and cleaned up and dressed for dinner.

For that, we took a quick taxi ride over to Duke's, conveniently passing kate spade, Dior, Louis Vuitton, and many more interesting sights. Also, conveniently, we had a little wait at Duke's so I had some shopping time and I spent it at LV!

After dinner, we let the kids pick out some fun souvenirs at Little People, right outside the restaurant. They also have a website

And here are some snaps from our Sunday dining:

Watermelon Mojito at Tropics Bar & Grill

Burger with Cheddar & Fries at Tropics Bar & Grill -- the slaw was spicy and great!

Seafood Luau at Duke's - this was very good - a mixture of shrimp, scallops, mushrooms and other vegetables in a nice coconut sauce. It reminded me of Thai food although it was very mild. I would have loooved it if it were hot and spicy!

Happy Monday!

  1. That drink looks refreshing!!! I can't wait to what you picked up at LV!!! Enjoy yourself!!

  2. What a great post! Sounds like you are having a great time there! Congrats on your new LV, pls post pics!

  3. Yay! Did you get the Damier Azur? I gave in and bought mine in the neverfull last week! I just had to have it for spring/summer and the SA's said they were selling fast. They had to actually order me mine into the store.

Looks like you're having a ton of fun! Food looks delicious!

  4. We went to Maui and stayed at the Grande Wailea. I would love to get your input on trip planning in Maui vs. where you are now. You were saying that this trip is your fav so far?? Let me know!! We have 2 children 8 and 12. Boy and girl. We went to Maui without kids the last time but the next time..... they need to go.

The FOOD and drinks look sooooo good and I love your LV you! Your blog would not be the same without these fun photos!!!

  5. cute souvenirs! and those watermelon mojitos look amazing!

  6. i hope you get a chance to go into sand people! it's adorable!

  7. Oooh...can. not. wait. to see what's in the LARGE brown bag!!! Swoon!

Thanks for all the posts while you are on vacation. It really helps with planning for March - I have a 4 year old and a 1 year old. We're heading out there for my sister's wedding and I still need to find outfits for the kids. We used to go every year to Hawaii, but we've always been to Maui and have only been to Oahu once.

  8. Pamela, ashley & Mona - thank you!

summerilla - yes I did! I got the Totally MM :)

Beth - we were in Maui 2 or 3 yrs ago in Feb - for the first part of the trip we stayed at the Ritz Carlton which was fabulous but was a little isolated for three small children who don't play golf lol. pool. room service. pool. room service. repeat. lol

The last 2 nights we were in a busy crowded area that had lots of shops and restaurants... I'll see if I can figure out where that was. I know I took lots of pics. Since I am more of a city-vacationer, not really a huge beach vacationer, I like Oahu for our proximity to Waikiki area & great shopping street/restaurants etc while still being in the incredibly convenient and family friendly Hawaiian Village. Driving up to the North was gorgeous and there are more things I'd like to do here that we don't have time for this trip - like the Dole Plantation etc. That said, I'm no Hawaii expert by any means - this is my 4th trip and I've only been to Maui once.

Sarah Mina - that mojito was sooo good! I wonder where I can get one in Seattle...

mWm - I think we missed it this time But Little People was fun!

Michelle - I'm glad it's helping a bit! You're going to have such a great time. We've seen two bridal parties/brides since we've been here! So fun. :) Check out if you haven't yet for some cute kids clothes. I also love Janie & Jack -- they have the cutest swimwear right now - got my son the swordfish stuff - and Gymboree has some darling girls' resort wear right now too.

  9. Thanks for the input! It helps.

  10. Those meals look amazing, esp. the shrimp, mushrroms w/coconut milk -- yummy!! Love your new LV, no room to comment so I though I would comment here! Looks like you are having a great time!
