OOD 7.30.09 - Breezy Dandelions

I actually made a bit of an effort today!  Well... it really wasn't an effort.   I stepped into my closet looking for an easy, lightweight dress (have I mentioned it's hot here lately?!) and staring me right in the face was my new Lilly Pulitzer Brie Dress in "Dandelion Clouds of White": Happy, sunshiney, linen-y, with little holes in the detailing at the waist and neckline.  Perfect.  Even thought it is lined, it is loose and swingy & cut nicely to feel breezy and cool.  I got so many compliments on it today and was even asked if it was vintage!  I kind of want it in pink now too.

While transferring the pics to my computer, I came across a snap of the pink Target dress I blogged on a little while ago - wore it out to a casual weeknight dinner and loved it - so I've included that below.  Thank you to melissamolasses who let me know there is a cami in this same print online.  I haven't seen it in-store.

Old Navy silver flops - too hot for real shoes!

  5. You look as if you were made for dresses :) I tried on the pink Target shift as well, but it pulled too much around my hip area, which seems to be my issue with a straighter fit. Loveth on you!

  10. You look lovely in both dresses Miss Sweet Tea, they are both really pretty! And we can sympathize on the hot and humid, we lived in southern Oregon for several years and remember a couple of days in Portland, and another several days in Seattle that were very much like it is now. Misery.

    Sending you a smile!

  12. I love that dress! It does look kind of vintage, very late 1950's early 1960's, my favorite!

  13. Ok, you have totally inspired me with all this lilly stuff looking so good on you! I was on their site today and found a few things I want to try when I am in the USA. Can I ask you how do the sizes run? Any advice you can provide is appreciated! Thanks! :-)

  14. Kimberly, mrs.a, Caroline & Zoe - thank you so much!
Jemma Ruby - Thank you! I am no Lilly expert but I think the sizes are running pretty true to what J Crew would be - possibly a little smaller. I have another straighter shift style that is due to arrive on Monday so I will have to compare that to the Brie. The yellow dress I have on is a 6 and you can't tell from the pics but it could really be taken in on the sides at the top so I would say I'm between a 6 and 4, whereas with J Crew I would be a 4 and the Pink Target dress on this post is a 4. I know that Petunia tweeted that she was having some sizing issues with them this season - that they were running shorter/wider? I would shoot her an email to get her take on it. Next month I will be back South so I can get into a Lilly shop and really try some things on. :)
