MIL Gift

I'd say it's both easy and difficult to shop for my mother-in-law. Easy because she doesn't really need or want anything and any little candle or tea towel or picture frame will do... difficult because, well, she doesn't really need or want anything and I want to give her something special.

I think one of her favorite gifts is a donation made in her name - (I've used Gifts that Give More). But I also like her to have something for herself and this year had a photo book (I usually use Shutterfly) made up of the trip we took her on to Victoria, BC for her birthday - lots of great pics with the grandchildren.

I wanted to give the wrapping a little something extra and remembered all the gorgeous wrapping cloths/scarves that I saw when we visited Japan. Now, I don't know the proper Japanese wrapping technique for this but I figured something out with a pretty tea towel and some wide ribbon, and then tied on a sweet little ornament that looks very Danish to me. And, here we are:

kitchen towel (printed with teapots) and ribbon from World Market
knit and wooden ornament from Target (it was only $2 - can you believe it?)

I am almost done with Christmas shopping - but I do like seeing other people's lists of picks from all the pretty things out there this time of year. So I'm putting together my (rather extensive) Wish (Dream) List and will post that soon!

xoxo

  1. I love your idea! My (future)MIL is impossible to shop for, and the little things I do come up with feel like they fall short. The way you did your packaging feels so special :)
