OOTD 10.13.09: a little color {+ suede boots!}

OK so maybe brown is not the color I was envisioning when I said I was going to take a departure from all my black and gray... but I couldn't resist pulling out my caramel suede boots for the first time of the season.  These are by Sofft and so super comfy - bought them last year - and I can seriously run around in them all day.  For some reason I was feeling my desert brown cardi with them so I had to add a dash of color to break up all the brown and felt this scarf would be perfect.  It's a gorgeous purple-y blue-y lavender... I guess I'd call it almost periwinkle.

I wasn't one of the lucky recipients of the J Crew "favorite customer" earrings.  (Though a couple of days ago I did find in a stack of papers a nondescript envelope containing a  free shipping offer which ended yesterday.) Triple Play Black & Gray

OK this is my third day in a row for black and gray and tomorrow I am definitely going to do some color.  (By the way, if you want to see someone who can really rock some cool color combos, check out Dina at My Superfluities if you haven't already... she puts together some fun outfits.)  Really I am not feeling gloomy and dreary and it actually has been quite a sunshine-y Fall here in Seattle.  But today it's black and gray for the third day in a row.  I think I was inspired by all the military jackets I've been seeing out there and felt like pulling out this cozy flannel jacket.  (This jacket was a major score, by the way: story here.  Originally $158.00 and I got it for $9.95 at Anthro.)  Plus I'm in the mood for boots.  So here's today:

More Black & Gray

I think I set myself on little trends as I put on more black & gray on Sunday.  Early yesterday morning it was just cold.  So I pulled out this big wooly chunky sweater dress from Old Navy last year.  I was going to do tights and boots but then remembered these black leggings I had bought in Copenhagen this past summer when I got chilly one evening out.  Added some Revas and ran out the door.  

This outfit was completely about comfort: super comfy and warm. I am liking the Revas with leggings and think this might work under some other dresses hanging in my closet.

Black & Gray {for Soccerday}

OK.  So this is our first year being involved in soccer.  Three kids in soccer (plus Hubby coaching one of the teams) equals soccer seven times a week this time of year.  Crazy!  Saturday is now Soccerday.  

So my one morning a week that I used to spend a good hour leisurely perusing new finds at Target, stocking up on groceries, and making a trip to a mall or getting a mani while Hubby stayed home with the kids and made pancakes has morphed into running from one soccer game to the next.  And then to the next.  But the kids love it and it's over in November so we're enjoying it these few months.  It's starting to get very chilly out there (and this is Seattle) so I do like wearing my cozy Uggs.  

Here was yesterday:

I love this scarf!  (and this time of year my "cost-per-wear" is going down every week, I wear it so much)

We are running off to church this morning & then the rest of this sunny, gorgeous (though chilly) Fall day is totally unplanned and unscheduled!  I hope everyone enjoys a lovely Sunday!

New Art for My Bathroom {Finally!}

I know this phrase is everywhere (even a rug at Anthropologie) but I just love it and have been thinking about ordering a print off of etsy for awhile now. Today I was at a little boutique though and saw this beauty - painted on wood, antiqued, and already framed and in colors that blend perfectly with my (quite-undecorated-for-having- lived-here-nearly-3-years) master bathroom. I just now hammered a nail into the wall and put it up in an empty spot above the towel rack and am so happy with it! Now if I could come up with some ideas for the rest of the bathroom...
