Boden Spring Picks


My Boden catalog just arrived and I love seeing the happy, bright prints on the happy, "vacation-taking" models. It has me dreaming of vacation myself. We recently booked some flights for Summer travel (including Italy, which I'm verrry excited about) and with that in mind, and pretty much just shopping my closet lately, I'm not looking too much at Fall or Winter clothing these days.

At first run-through, here are some of my favorites from the current catalog... (I also love these 70s Sunnies... if only they came in pink!)

OOTD 5.13.10: featuring Boden's Rosette Top in Multi Painted Stripe

I'm really happy with this top... nice colors (the stripes make me think "sun washed Juicy Fruit"), comfortable fabric, pretty but not overwhelmingly foofy (not that there's anything wrong with that) rosette detail. The armholes are slightly small... usually in a top like this they drop a little lower... but I don't notice because the fabric is stretchy and it is not at all uncomfortable. The brown stripe closely matches J Crew's Desert Brown (my Jackie color of choice today), and the lavender J Crew's Misty Lavender.

...and my earrings are a recent Anthropologie purchase... I couldn't find online but they come in different colors and are priced at $28.

OOTD 2.25.10: Buff Pink + Embellished Navy


I received my size exchange for Boden's Embellished Flats a couple days ago, so despite the grayness and misty weather, I'm wearing them today for a little school volunteering and running around.


I had originally ordered the 39s - my usual size - and they were just too short. The 40s actually feel a little roomy so I guess I am in-between but there is no in-between so I do need to add a little insert. The shoes don't slip off my heel or anything but they just feel roomy... a little wide I'd say... which is unusual because though I wear medium width, I think of my feet as being a little on the wide side. Maybe I'm just used to my Revas which fit like a glove, but it's nothing a little insert won't fix. If you have a very narrow foot, I'm not sure these would work, but with Boden's frequent free ship/free return offers, there's little risk in trying. It's a gorgeous shoe!

Boden Pre-Order: Crewneck Cardi & Embellished Flats {+ a little more on LE}


Way back in November I took advantage of Boden's 20% off + FS/FR offer and pre-ordered a couple of Spring items, the Favourite Crewneck Cardigan in Sealion Leopard and the Embellished Flats in Navy.

The crewneck I have already worn three times... it is soft, comfy, stretchy and I love the button detailing. I wore it over a navy tank with jeans and boots this first time in the pic. I ordered a UK size 10, which I think on the old size charts they translated to a large 4/small 6 US. The cardi is tagged UK 10/US 6 now that they are including US sizing. In J Crew I would normally order a Small or a 4 in a cardi or jacket. This is slightly roomier than a J Crew Small cardi would fit me. The fabric feels great on. If you are not sure what size to order, the Boden website actually gives dimensions specific to each garment in each size -- not just a general size chart. I love this feature!




Now the shoes... first of all... I ADORE these! The quality, the design, the detail... seriously the word "couture" sprang to mind when I first looked at the embellishment in person. Gray satin wraps across the toe of the shoe, topped with gorgeous grograin and sparklies. I ordered a 39 in these as I almost always wear an 8.5 or 39 and have a pair of peeptoe pumps from Boden from a few years back in a 39 that fit well. Well... I put my foot in and squoosh. My toes were right up against the edge of the shoe. I could probably hobble along okay but I want to get a lot of wear out of these. So the lovely 39s are on their way back to exchange for some size 40s. Please, Boden, don't sell out of my size and send them to their new home quickly! I can't wait to wear these! Oh, and thank you for the free returns.

These also come in silver and a pink that looks quite dark on my screen.




Also, I was in Lands' End again today. I know, I know... I just had to check on that Spring store-set. Well there was only one pair of the navy Tretorns in my size, so I bought them plus a couple other things - reviews & pics coming up next post!

Oh - And! There were stacks of coupons at the cashwrap for $15 off your $75 purchase. If you aren't offered one, be sure to ask about them - I did and the sales associate went back and adjusted my purchase. They are printed with individual (one time use it looks like) codes.

Mini Boden Coming to Nordstrom {Hanna Too!}


So I was walking through Nordstrom today and noticed some Hanna Andersson play/day dress sets hanging on a fixture. Wait a minute. Hannas at Nordies?! I remarked to the sales associate how surprised I was to see Hanna in their store and she told me - yes - they would be carrying HA now... as well as...

She told me it has been in a couple of Seattle stores and selling very well and -- I think -- that about 9 stores have it. She said they will have fewer pieces in the 7 & up range, but more of a collection for the 6 and under. They'll also have boys clothes! Yay!

When I got home, I googled "Mini Boden at Nordstrom" and found that, while news to me, this is not exactly hot off the presses. According to Earnshaw's Mini Boden is going to be in 55 Nordstroms this month. WWD reported on this back in August. Nordstrom has an exclusive US contract.

I am on the list to be called as soon as it hits the floor... I am interested to see if the pricing is any different as Boden runs frequent % off promos and how much of the lines they will carry.

Boden 2010: Tunics


My newest Boden catalog arrived just the other day, reminding me that my pre-orders should be here any day now (this in Sealion Leopard and these in Navy) -- provided the stormy UK weather doesn't delay them too much.

The catalog also has an offer for 10% off plus FS/FR. If you like the Boden style, definitely get on their mailing list as they run frequent promotions like this (or even better) and you can use the "quick service number" printed on your catalog to get the deal.

I am loving their selection of tunics right now... they even have a separate little section set up for tunics/kaftans. The Polyvore below shows my top picks, which I really need to narrow down to one or two...

I'm picturing slim white capris or denim in white or a dark rinse under them (with the exception of the brown Glam Tunic and the pink/green Printed Tunic- those look like they should hold their own as dresses for me) with strappy silver or gold metallic sandals or ballet flats - something by Tory Burch would be perfect!

Boden Spring Picks


Did I really just say Spring? OK, I know it sounds crazy.  But you know the world of fashion designers - they must look quite a bit ahead and they aren't waiting 'til the last minute to let us know what they're up to! 

I was just reading Dina's blog My Superfluities and she is showcasing some really cute items she found on Boden's Spring Preview.  I just had to hop on over to the site and take a look.  Here are my picks (none of these items will be available until sometime in January):
