Korres Lipgloss Trio

I love my Korres lipwear... the lip butter, lipsticks... and this Cherry Full Color Gloss which is my favorite gloss. When I was in Sephora recently checking out some Benefit, I noticed this collection in three shades: #33 Nude, #25 Natural Purple (don't worry - not purple purple), and #54 Fuchsia, priced at $19.50. They are the same .20 oz size as the singles that sell for $17 each.

The Nude and Purple are very natural-looking shades on my lips. The Fuchsia I was a little concerned about at first - but when I tried it on today, I found that it is a very pretty pink that adds a nice amount of bright while still being appropriate for daytime (and my lifestyle). I picture it being a great shade this Spring and Summer with all the happy, brighter florals from brands like Lilly and Liberty for Target that I plan to be wearing.

L-R: #25 Natural Purple, #33 Nude, #54 Fuchsia

For me, this gloss has just the right amount of shine and color, and it feels great on my lips - moisturizing - not sticky or tacky. I often wear it alone or over my Burts Bees, but also over lipstick. And I love the fact that it contains cherry oil and jojoba oil and doesn't contain any parabens, sulfates, or petrochemicals... who wants to end up eating that?!

I have a few more reviews - Old Navy, ATL, a bit more Liberty, more Sephora goodies... and I even plan to cook on Sunday, so hopefully will have a new recipe up soon... just need to work in the time to get it all together! We're almost to the weekend!

OOTD 9.9.09: It's Definitely Fall Around Here

Well I've been drinking Pumpkin Spice Lattes for several days now, the temps are dropping into the 60's, and leaves are actually starting to change color,  so I was feeling like a big wooly Fall sweater yesterday and pulled out the Tweed Shawl Collar Sweater in Dark Orange I just bought at Eddie Bauer.

I hadn't been in EB for ages but shopping with my mom one day I happened upon the Christine Ruffle Blouse and bought the burgundy color (I see Berry on the website, but not the Burgundy).  I was still thinking about it days later so went back to get the ivory and came upon a table of cozy sweaters and couldn't resist.

If you want to try out some of the new EB, I received an email from them this morning:  save 20% on your entire order through 9/21 with code EMAILONLY.

suede ballet flats in brown - purchased at a small shop in Paris this summer

EB Christine Ruffle tank in Burgundy - I wore it last weekend with a gray cardi for my marathon shopping day at the Mall of America in Minneapolis

Korres also is having a promo until midnight CST today:  free shipping all day, 20% off orders over $25 (bigger discounts on some of their "favorites"), plus free gifts depending on how much you spend.  If you've been thinking about trying some Korres products, now would be a good time!

Cheapie Boyfriend Jeans Two Ways {And My New Fall Lipwear Arrived!}

So I'm a little late to the boyfriend trend, although I'm pretty sure I remember wearing jeans like this sometime in the 90's.  Anyway, on Monday I was shopping Nordstrom Rack with my mom. (My brother's car window was just smashed and his suitcase stolen in NY where he is visiting and they got lots of good stuff including his clothes so my mom wanted to find some things for him.)  While we were there I noticed a rack of Vigoss boyfriend jeans... they pretty much look like most of the boyfriend jeans out there - distressed, rolled cuffs - but were priced under $30.  So I picked up a pair.  I like that where they are cuffed is tapered so it is a nice neat cuff and I don't have to "fold and roll".  I wore them yesterday, pairing them with a couple different jacket/shoe combos for errands/shopping and then dinner out.

Also - a little box from Korres arrived yesterday and I'm delighted!

I am trying to fit in my first Fall mani/pedi (OPI Give Me Moor - my little bottle is ready and waiting) so I have also been thinking about some darker colors for my lips.  I ordered:

Mango Lip Butter Lipstick in Natural Brown #36.  On my computer screen, this color looks horrible - I would never have ordered it without seeing it in person. IRL it is lovely... a very natural, soft, everyday color.  I also ordered this in Naked Rose for my mom because she likes pinks, saw it and really liked the shade.  It is very pretty.

Guava Lipstick in Wine Red.  This is in a thinner tube.  It feels a little less moisturizing than the super-soft Mango Butter lipstick but still glides on smoothly & feels great.  It has a more intense, pigmented color.

Cherry Lip Gloss in Plum #27.  My 4th shade in this formula - I obviously love it.  Adds a nice plummy shine over lipstick or alone.

I also ordered my second tube of the Face Primer.  I love that it is silicone-free.  Korres also let me choose 3 samples with my order so I'll be trying out the Body Butter Guava, Wild Rose Mask, and Yoghurt Cream Moisturizing Cream soon.

Happy Wednesday!

Korres Promo

Have I mentioned I love Korres?  I've only tried a handful of their products but from what I've tried I am definitely a fan - especially their lipwear and silicone-free primer.  I just recently placed an order with StyleBakery's code (STYLEBAKERY - through Sept. 15th) which got me 30% off my entire order, which was my second tube of primer and some fabbie new lipcolors for Fall!

I also just got an email on a new promo: a full size cherry oil lip gloss in Lt. Pink (love!) and free shipping with your $25. order.  The offer is good today through Friday, Sept. 4th.

Going Greek {with Korres}

I've found my new summer lip wear! On Saturday, I stopped by the Korres section in Sephora. I remember them from a few years back... I tried some samples with olives or rose or some such ingredients but never really got into the line. But now, with the nice big display at Sephora, I was really able to check out this brand. With ingredients like cinnamon, guava, thyme honey, and wild rose, there's lots more I plan to try.

Korres has its roots based in the oldest homeopathic pharmacy in Athens, Greece and is the result of a collaboration between a pharmacist and chemical engineer (they got married too!). They produce earth-friendly, people-friendly products that include lots of natural ingredients and leave out things like sulfates and petrochemicals. Many of their products score "0" or "low hazard" on EWG's Skin Deep Cosmetic Safety Database. I would like to see them come out with a definitive stance against animal testing.

First off: Face Primer. I've tried a couple of primers but some of the ingredients seem to scare me a little... parabens and silicones and all that. Love this! My face feels soft but not greasy and my foundation has been looking fresher longer.

Next: Love Your Lips Collection. Love, love, love. This set includes three Cherry Full Color Glosses and a Lip Butter. The gloss colors are all beautiful and just different enough to make it worth buying the set. They have just the right amount of shine and sparkle for me and don't feel too sticky. They don't have that fake cherry taste - they contain cherry oil! And the Lip Butter... wowzie. Love this! Butter is right. Just smooth, soft and buttery. Not too heavy and not too flavored. Perfect.

The colors in this set are Light Pink 11 ("sheer milky pink"), Beige Pink 32 ("pink champagne shimmer") and Nude 33 ("sheer pinky beige"). The lip butter in this set is the Pomegranate version.

And last, I tried a lipstick: Mango Butter Lipstick SPF 10. Again, a winner. I bought Natural Purple 25. I never thought I would own a lipstick with the word "purple" in the color description, but trust me, it isn't purple. They describe it as "plum brown" and it is a perfect neutral that just deepens the shade of my lips and is perfect for my coloring.

I remember reading a while back that if you can go organic or natural on just one thing in your make-up bag, make it your lipwear because you do end up, well, sort of eating what you put on your lips throughout the day. I've been buying natural balms like Burt's Bees and more recently Yes To Carrots, but now I feel like I'm glamming it up a bit more with my Korres.

Happy Monday everyone!
