New Pink Coat

It's probably been decades since I've owned a pink coat and I don't know why. I love pink. Pink cardigans, pink dresses, pink shoes. Really, I'm not usually decked out in pink but I do own it and like wearing it. So, when I saw this coat at Nordstrom, I knew it had a place in my closet.

I've also just ordered these:

Banana Republic Sophie Braided Bootie in Cedar Wood

(Coats and boots... I've begun my Fall/Winter shopping. Who else?!)

I love the cute dotty and hot pink kate spade outfit on page 73 of the February Nordstrom Catalog (browse recent catalogs through this link online):

We had a business casual type event last night so I thought I'd put together something similar from my closet:

Chanel Le Vernis Nail Colour in Peche Nacree 515, custom citrine ring

Happy Thursday!

Nordstrom Shopping {Fire Chiffon Tunic}

I was going to wear this outfit to the Marc Cohn concert tonight, but sadly found out yesterday that it was cancelled. So, I wore it anyway today for a couple hours at the office, getting my hair highlighted (which I changed from highlighting to all over color in my natural color (dark!) ), and a little shopping.

I wasn't planning on wearing the tunic and scarf together, but I had them both in my hand when a Nordstrom SA walked up to me wearing them. I liked the look, so here it is! She also showed me these great BP tanks that are very long in length... perfect for leggings. The tunic is sheer and definitely needs a layer underneath.

Fire Square Neck Chiffon Tunic in Grey , BP Tunic Tank in Olivine, Rubbish Infinity Scarf in Twine, Mossimo Ponte Leggings in Black, Banana Republic Reade Moto Boot in Black

In the afternoon it was bright and sunny and pretty warm, so I took off the scarf. Here you can also see the results of my time spent with the colorist. At school pick up, other moms noticed right away, but not one of my children said a word. When I asked them (at separate times) if anything was different about my hair, all three said "It's straight.". But really, it is a big difference!

The hems really aren't so uneven. I think it's just a combination of the way I've pulled down the tank and how I'm standing.

Friday tomorrow!

Nordstrom Shopping {Rubbish Infinity Scarf}

The Half Yearly (Women and Children) Sale began *today* so I made time for a quick run through Nordstrom this morning and although I didn't find any sale items I had to have, I did buy a top, a tank, and this Chunky Cabled Infinity Scarf from the juniors department.

also available in Black, Cloudy, and Seagate

Last Winter I tried to get this doubled looped look with regular scarves, and - while it's do-able - this type of circular scarf definitely makes it easier. Nordstrom's November catalog was in my mailbox this afternoon and I noticed that the scarf I just purchased this morning is shown on page 66, though it is not mentioned in the details below the pics.

Is anyone else shopping the sale or finding any great deals? I'd love to know!

Cheapie Boyfriend Jeans Two Ways {And My New Fall Lipwear Arrived!}

So I'm a little late to the boyfriend trend, although I'm pretty sure I remember wearing jeans like this sometime in the 90's.  Anyway, on Monday I was shopping Nordstrom Rack with my mom. (My brother's car window was just smashed and his suitcase stolen in NY where he is visiting and they got lots of good stuff including his clothes so my mom wanted to find some things for him.)  While we were there I noticed a rack of Vigoss boyfriend jeans... they pretty much look like most of the boyfriend jeans out there - distressed, rolled cuffs - but were priced under $30.  So I picked up a pair.  I like that where they are cuffed is tapered so it is a nice neat cuff and I don't have to "fold and roll".  I wore them yesterday, pairing them with a couple different jacket/shoe combos for errands/shopping and then dinner out.

J Crew Crocodile Cocktail Jacket, Target tank in lt. pink, Vigoss jeans, Jeffrey Campbell flats

mac & jac jacket purchased recently at Nordstrom, ON tank in black, Vigoss jeans, Tory Burch Revas in black

Also - a little box from Korres arrived yesterday and I'm delighted!

I am trying to fit in my first Fall mani/pedi (OPI Give Me Moor - my little bottle is ready and waiting) so I have also been thinking about some darker colors for my lips.  I ordered:

Mango Lip Butter Lipstick in Natural Brown #36.  On my computer screen, this color looks horrible - I would never have ordered it without seeing it in person. IRL it is lovely... a very natural, soft, everyday color.  I also ordered this in Naked Rose for my mom because she likes pinks, saw it and really liked the shade.  It is very pretty.

Guava Lipstick in Wine Red.  This is in a thinner tube.  It feels a little less moisturizing than the super-soft Mango Butter lipstick but still glides on smoothly & feels great.  It has a more intense, pigmented color.

Cherry Lip Gloss in Plum #27.  My 4th shade in this formula - I obviously love it.  Adds a nice plummy shine over lipstick or alone.

I also ordered my second tube of the Face Primer.  I love that it is silicone-free.  Korres also let me choose 3 samples with my order so I'll be trying out the Body Butter Guava, Wild Rose Mask, and Yoghurt Cream Moisturizing Cream soon.

Happy Wednesday!

My Favorite Thing from Nordstrom's August Catalog

I know many are ruffled-out at this point, and personally I do doubt I'll be getting any more ruffly blouses for Fall (Frances is excepted, of course).  But the second I saw this jacket = love, love love!  And then I scanned over to the description and saw that this little lovely is only $68!  Whoa.  Now I don't have anything from the brand Nick & Mo and am not familiar with it, so I do need to see it in person... but from the pic it looks like such a perfect dress-up/dress down little jacket that I soooo want to add it to my Fall wardrobe!

from page 31 - Nick & Mo knit blazer with chiffon ruffles in Wine #261302 - $68.00

Okay, that was my favorite thing, but as long as we're looking at jackets - and since it is a cool 74 degrees in my house right now, down nearly 20 degrees from last week, I like this one too (shown over a turtleneck in the 2nd pic):

pics from pages 70 & 71 - Kenneth Cole New York double breasted jacket in Dark Heather Gray #264716 - $129.00

Nordstrom Anniversary Sale!

OK, usually I am one of the people in the crowd drinking Starbucks and waiting for Nordstrom to open their shiny polished doors at 7 am on this day every year.  But today, just coming off of the Paris shopping, I'm not feeling the need to treat myself to some fabbie new things nor, really, the excitement to zip down to the store and join the crowd (it must be the jet lag).  Plus, I feel like my summer is just starting and I'm not ready to shop for boots and coats.  This hasn't stopped me, however (of course), from feeling slightly left out and spending a good half hour on the Nordies website this morning perusing.

The offerings are overwhelming!  I've picked out a few favorites but would love to hear if anyone else has found anything fabulous online - or if you've gone to the sale, what you got!!

A few things I like:

kate spade 'stevie' glazed croc shopper in blue: regularly $425., sale $279.90
Nordstrom's bag, Nordstrom's pic

Sam Edelman 'Irina' Flat in Grey Snake: regularly $129.95, sale $86.90
Nordstrom's shoe, Nordstrom's pic

Diane von Furstenburg 'Julian' dress in Serpent Berry: regularly $325., sale $199.90

And of course I love the Tory Burch Romy... but the only sale colors are the khaki/gold and black and I did just recently score my lovely gold TB Reva espadrilles and already have some black Revas... plus I love the Latte/Arabian Pink color combo more (I posted on them awhile back here), and it is sadly not marked down yet... I'll be watching!

Happy Friday!

Nordstrom Rack: Jewelry Central!

Alright, after FFM's fabulous review of the Nordstrom Crystal Collection pave earrings (the ones similar to J Crew's $45.00 Fireballs) I had to go on a little search. Success! Love! I also found some loooooooooong faux pearl necklaces, so now I can knot! (Which I believe I read about in another FFM post or comment.) So thank you so much for the lovely ideas coming all the way from Florida! And look for more necklace-knotting in upcoming Polyvores! btw I broke the clasp on my real pearl necklace :( while trying on clothes at AT Loft this morning and sent a pearl ricocheting around the fitting room... add a trip to the jewelers to my list...

Here are today's scores:

Nordstrom Rack faux pearl necklace $11.97 and
Crystal Collection earrings $15.97

The necklace knotted! Whee!

Why do you keep doing this to me, Nordstrom Rack?

OK.  I am really trying hard to save up for a little treat.  No, a big treat for me.  It's this handbag I want.  Really want.  And I am almost there after several setbacks from things like 30% off at J Crew and Gymbucks.  And I did also swing by Nordstrom Rack last week.  But, while I contained myself fairly well, buying one pair of Joe's Jeans (Muse style, Blanche wash) for something like $79.90...and I did really need these because I am up a few pounds and really, until I drop a good ten, my several pairs of barely worn to unworn fabulous jeans bought on a very good skinny day cannot be worn.  And I can't live in ON yoga pants, Juicy velour (especially since I only have one pair) & J Crew khakies everyday.  So I needed these.

I couldn't believe the big names I was running across.  I mean.  Standing at a rounder - flip a hanger: hey Marc Jacobs! flip: Diane Von Furstenburg!  flip: Leifsdottir! flip: Ella Moss!  flip: Marc & Diane *again*!  flip: Burberry!  You get the idea.  And these were from the regular Nordstrom store - all at about a third of their normal retail price.  I tried on a cute Nanette Lepore jacket - $370.00 retail, marked down to $99.97.  But it stayed there.  There was even a big Tory Burch shoe display, all cute with her pink & orange boxes stacked up and flats and boots artfully displayed.  But I resisted.  Because I really want this new bag.  And I think, really, the Rack will not be getting anything else fabulous for sooooo long.  So I will just stay away - they tend to be hit or miss for me and I had never seen so many big brands before.  But then this morning I get an email  warning me:

"get ready for new arrivals!  fabulous styles from your favorite brands from ... t.b.d. ..."  (t.b.d. and savvy are my favorite departments)   G-r-e-a-t.  For those near a Rack, it starts Feb 24th.

Joe's Muse jean - higher rise so you can actually bend over in public; super soft & lightweight

Nanette Lepore jacket - $99.97 (was $370.00) - this is how they roll at The Rack!
