Today's Target Report 3.4.09

So I zoooooomed to Target this morning (just kidding, Highway Patrol!) in hopes of seeing the new Alexander McQueen IRL... it wasn't there (pooh!) so I quickly scanned GO, Mossimo and Merona, and found a couple of interesting items.  I also found that they had marked the Waverly look-alike jacket down to $8.74 (I paid $17.48 on Saturday) and there were still tons left!  Here's what I tried:

Merona Collection Tie Neck Dress, Cherry Glow/Navy $39.99  The fabric of this dress feels great - substantial and smooth - a little stiff (like a rain slicker, but in a good way - does that make sense?) but not uncomfortable at all.  Seemed like it would resist wrinkles.  Crazy, mod print!  The tie at the side of the neck is a great touch.  I would probably go for this in a tamer print or a solid so the classic cut and neckline were more noticeable.

And here's what I bought:

Mossimo Black Boucle Jacket - Teal Boucle Combo   $20.98 (regular price $29.99)  I had tried this on in the rust color several weeks ago after seeing it featured in a magazine and it just didn't do anything for me.  After seeing FFM in it on her wonderful blog Fabulous Florida Mommy, though, I decided to give this color a whirl.  And I loved it!  The cut and fit of this jacket are great, and the fabric seems like it belongs on a much more expensive jacket.

Thakoon for Target Shibori Print Tee $3.74 (regular price $14.99)  Just a soft cotton tee in a fun print.  There is a small pocket on the left side of the chest.  For the price of a Starbucks latte, this one's a great deal!

OOD 3.4.09 (a couple of hours at the office)

Well it isn't pouring rain today so I am going to break out my very comfortable (but very don't want to get them wet) Donald J. Pliner leopard boots and a fancy silk scarf! I am spending a couple of hours at the office this morning - which I do 2 or 3 days a week. In my Polyvore set below I even added a pic of Michael Scott from one of my favorite shows The Office (I tell you, Polyvore is my new hobby) - and as Hubby was looking over my shoulder I told him it was because I was going to post that my boss is kinda like him. Just kidding honey! (It's Hubby's business.) But still... wouldn't it be amusing to hang out with that crew for a day? So I'm keeping the pic in anyway.

Tomorrow I plan to hit Anthropologie after reading about all the great new dresses and tops in stock, so will hopefully have some reviews after that!

More than coffee...

Gosh, I love being a mom. This a conversation I had yesterday:

My 3 yr old: I love you more than ice cream.

Me: I love you more than ice cream too.

My 5 yr old: Do you love him more than coffee?

Me: Yes. I love him more than coffee.

My 3 yr old: **GASP** YOU LOVE ME MORE THAN COFFEE?!?!?! *runs and hugs my waist and does not let go*

So this darling boy, this amazing, miraculous gift from God, who, along with his sisters, is one of the brightest lights of my life? The one that I hug and say I love a million times a day? It made his day to know that he ranks above coffee. Who knew. And now I have another way to tell my kids I love them.

This little boy on his wonderful Daddy's shoulders? I love him more than coffee.

OOD 3.3.09 (and sunshine where you can find it!)

It's dark and rainy out and I have to get out in it - so I am going to wear my little yellow enameled (last year's) Target ring and look at it frequently to remind myself the sun will be back eventually!  Here I am today:

the ring is different than pictured on my Polyvore set - it's bunches of yellow flowers with sparkly centers on a silver ring *love*

Polyvore is too much fun...

so fun, in fact, that I have created a little Polyvore set of my "staying-at-home-and-taking-care-of-my-neglected-house-and-laundry" ensemble rather than getting right to it.  For anyone who used to play with paper dolls or Barbies, this is a blast.  I mean, look!  I even added my vacuum!  Whee!  Here I am today:

...and now I am off!  Happy Monday everyone! :o)

Polyvore Attempt #1 (and OOD 3.1.09)

I just attempted my first Polyvore set!  I was surprised I could find some of the actual items... the jacket, shoes, and bag are exact... the sweater, pants and necklace are similar:

And here is the IRL look:

Banana Republic wool jacket (Fall '08), Ann Taylor Loft lt. blue turtleneck ( a couple of years old), Banana Republic brown pant, Forth & Towne (remember them??) gold link necklace

Kohl's also tries for J Crew's Frances blouse

Yesterday morning, when Gigi reviewed Kohl's knock off of J Crew's Fiona jacket on her wonderful blog Gigi's Gone Shopping, I was literally at Kohl's within the half hour.  She does amazing reviews from several stores.  My Kohl's did have both the black and the white, and it is a lovely jacket - the fabric feels good and it is remarkably similar to the Fiona.  I tried it on though, and I guess I had forgotten that I had passed on the original Fiona because it just didn't do anything for me.  Well this one was just the same.  I don't think boxy jackets are good on me.  So if the Fiona fits you well - you will probably love this too.  Anyway, while in the same section, I saw hanging on the wall the axcess Ruffle Blouse, an  incredible replica of J Crew's popular Frances blouse!  They had it in "Tropical Pink" and a bright reddish coral called "Coraline".  They were priced at $49 and on sale for $19.99.  I checked on the website and they also show white and lavender - but I didn't see those at my store.  I did pass on this one also  but I might have been inclined to buy the white if it were in-store.
