OOTD 5.29.12 {caribbean green + sky blue}

I love the drape and feel of these linen cable-knit sweaters from J Crew.  I have a v-neck in an off-white from a few years ago and have been so happy with this Caribbean green boatneck this year that I ordered neon pink and navy v-necks on the recent 30 off sale. I wanted to wear a scarf but felt like keeping my neckline simple so I tied it to my bag.  I do like the colors together.

My shoes were totally weather-inappropriate as it was in the 50's.  But it's almost June (!) and wasn't raining so I wore them anyway.  Plus, I had recently gotten a pedicure with my absolute favorite summer pink - OPI's Strawberry Margarita. Any other good bright pinks out there?

Happy Wednesday!

Links of London Effervescence Bubble Stiletto Earrings

Update 10/13: I see the Effervescence Bubble Stiletto earrings can also be purchased at Bloomingdales here.

I'd admired these in pictures of the Duchess of Cambridge for awhile but I like them even more in real life.  My Effervescence Bubble Stiletto earrings from Links of London arrived last week, boxed and tied with ribbon, packaged nicely in a little bag with tissue.  I ordered in US dollars on the US version of the site, but I did get charged a small foreign transaction fee by my credit card.  (Mine is 1% but it varies.)  I can't remember what the return address was on the box but I think it was a US address.  Similar to Zara with the fee deal I think.

To me they seem very delicate, feminine, and nicely made.  The iolite is a lovely lavender and I think they can go dressy for evening or more casual for day.  They will be going toward the casual end with me quite a bit as I want to wear these often.

Here are some more snaps:

They are very swingy so a little difficult to not photograph blurry when on.  There is a lovely bracelet in the Effervescence collection also...

I went through ebates when I ordered these (5% cash back, nice) but after about a week noticed the rebate had not been credited (it's usually 3 days or so).  I contacted the company on a little form on their website and in less than ten minutes received a response letting me know it can take up to 30 days to credit, depending on the store, but they manually credited my account the 5% so I wouldn't have to wait.  Impressed, ebates, thank you.  If you don't already use them, I can refer you over on my sidebar.

Happy Wednesday!

Seersucker, Hot Tools, and a Delivery

I bought a basic seersucker blazer on super sale at Talbots a couple years ago but for some reason hadn't worn it.  I can't believe I just cut the tags off this morning... I'm going to be wearing this one a lot. (Pic below... not the exact one in the Polyvore.)  It's pretty classic and unlined and lightweight.  Our weather has turned a little cool lately, but it's still sunny so I thought this would be perfect.

OOTD 5.17.12

I'm also wearing curls today because I saw some comments on Pretty in Pink Megan's blog recommending the Hot Tools curling iron and went out and bought a 1 1/4" barrel Gold Curling Iron (item #6501778 at Ulta).  It's great.  My hair is still wavy at the end of the day.  This  pic is from this morning when I just quickly wound up some curls while supervising three kids having breakfast and getting dressed for school (plus a recuperating husband).  I'll get better at it when I have some time to play with it.

Also, an exciting delivery arrived today from Links of London. I need daylight to get some better pics to post of the earrings.  They are just lovely... delicate and feminine.  Very happy with them.  Didn't they wrap the box nicely?!

Happy Thursday!

Update, Ebates, and Earrings

Turns out I spoke too soon.  I'm not really completely back... my husband's injuries turned out to be a little more serious than we initially thought and he's ended up with surgery and a hospital stay.  We expect him to be just fine after a bit longer recovery, and is home now -- but that means I'm a little busier and distracted than I had been.

I did notice an ebates email today, though, that I wanted to share... I've used ebates since 2006 (my latest rebate check actually arrived today) and it's amazing how it can add up.  Right now in celebration of the company's 13th birthday, many stores are offering 13% cash back... Nordstrom and Banana Republic included.  Those special percentages are good through 11:59 pm PT today only.

I was surprised recently that I could even go through ebates when ordering from Links of London.  I've been thinking about the Effervescence Bubble Stiletto Earrings for a while now and finally put in my order.  They're one of the pairs of earrings that have been seen more than once on the Duchess of Cambridge.  I don't have anything like them and I envision getting quite a bit of wear out of them.  I'll do a review when they arrive:

I've added a button over on my sidebar, so I can refer you if you aren't already a member and would like to try it out.  Ebates did not ask me to write this post... I have never written a sponsored post and have never been sent any fabulous shoes/scarves/jewels to review -- but I will definitely let you know if that happens. :-)

Wearing...

Whew.  I've been offline for awhile. Despite a flu shot, I apparently succumbed this year and have been sick for over two weeks. I finally realized that if one of my children were feeling this way I would get them to a doctor. So, now, after a couple days of antibiotics, an inhaler, and heavy duty prescription cough syrup, I feel I am finally starting to come out of it.

There are lots of posts that I thought about during this time but I wasn't putting together very coherent thoughts or getting to the computer.  I think I'm back now.

And PSA... also during this time, my husband had a horrific bicycle accident.  No car involved (though you wouldn't know it to see him) and luckily only serious damage to one arm, though we are dealing with complications.  He was wearing his helmet and I just cringe now if I see a biker without one. Wear your helmet and be careful out there!

Here are some outfit pics I snapped from before I went into yoga pants and tee shirt mode with all of the above.  I'll be happy to get back into my white jeans, brights and Spring shoes again soon:

7FAM denim (last year), Loft top & cardi (last year), LK Bennett Alessia Sandal in Tan

Loft jacket, Paige denim, LK Bennett Maddox Shoe in Light Taupe

J Crew Linen cable-knit sweater in Caribbean Green
