OOD 4.22.09: Simple + A Scarf

oh... the rain is back!  That sunshine didn't last long but it was a nice break.  

Today:  very simple basics, dressed up with a super fabulous scarf.  The black and white Key Scarf is the very first Hermes scarf I purchased for myself.  I absolutely adore it and my heart still skips a beat when I look at the amazing detail!  I need to pull these scarves out more often... I actually used to wear them quite a bit.  I have worn this one around my neck, as a belt through jeans, tied onto a purse, and once - to a grad school formal - as a top.  You just knot in the middle on the reverse side, then tie around your waist and neck!  

Hermes scarves are pricey but I like to look at things by "cost per wear"!  That $60 sweater you bought on sale and wore once = not a good deal.  The $200 shoes you wear 50+ times = good deal!

The rest of my outfit is:  Banana Republic black capris, white ON tank, white AT Loft buttoned shirt,  gold Stuart Weitzman thong sandals (it's a little wet out there but not pouring, so I'm still going to wear them!), and simple gold earrings.

Another box of pink & green arrives for my girls.

Gymboree Gymbucks just burn a hole in my pocket every time.  I had three from a recent purchase so used them to get this little box of goodies for my girls.  I like to order online so I can really think about things and maximize my discount (the deal is:  Spend $50, earn a $25 Gymbuck to be redeemed later on another $50 purchase)... so with three Gymbucks ($75), if I keep my next total purchase as close as possible to $150 it makes my discount 50%.  Yay, hooray!

You will understand how truly crazy I am when I explain this outfit:

We are taking the children to Europe this summer for their first time and I am already planning their wardrobes.  OK, I admitted it.  I also have a Polyvore in the works for myself.  This pink and dotty outfit is for "Day 1:  Lengthy Plane Ride to Copenhagen":  

A comfortable tank, cardigan if they get chilly; the dotty skirt is so they look nice going through the airports, the dotty leggings for comfy snoozing or to change into in case of a spill.  Matching knit headband for Big Sis, chiffon ribbons for Lil Sis.  Dressing alike and in bright colors makes them easier to keep track of too, imo!  Little brother will have a turquoise polo the color of the turquoise dot.  I will not go through the entire two weeks of clothing changes right now... but don't be surprised if they might possibly come up between now and then...

I also ordered these sweet smocked dresses... I love a floaty dress with smocking for little girls... my 5 yr old likes to wear leggings so I got some coordinating ones to wear under.  I still remember a couple years ago when we were in Hawaii and I had bought her all these capris etc (of course... it's warm there) and she sat down and covered her ankles and wouldn't move because her ankles were cold.  In the middle of a hot, sunny day.  In Hawaii.  I think she's gotten past that... but just in case...

OOD 4.21.09: Pink, White, and Sparkly

We are supposed to have one more day of beautiful weather before more gray settles in this evening!  Already at 7 am it looks promising and clear out there!  And since I just got a pedi yesterday and it's been ages I have to wear sandals.

So today I am wearing my Stuart Weitzman Iceage jellies.  I bought these last year at Nordstrom and I love them! They are so fun and embedded with tons of Swarovski crystals - so super sparkly.  They have the cutest dalmation print on pink that shows through the bottom - check this out on zappos.com's multiview!  

Also wearing my new white babydoll top from ON - SO summery! - and a pink J Crew cardi from a few years ago.  Same color as the Jackie in the PV  but all cotton and longer/thinner.  

My necklace is from Tiffany & Co also, but has three hearts and I need to get it untangled before I can wear it... it is not one of the hanging necklaces - maybe it should be... and the big ol' diamond earrings are quite faux but still sparkly!!

I enjoy these shoes so much... I wore them on our trip to Disneyland last year and I noticed that on one picture Hubby took of me and the kids - he zoomed in on my shoes.  I guess he knew I'd like to have a souvenir picture of my Iceages at Disney hehehe!

OOD 4.20.09: Coach & Coral

Guess what!  It's going to be 72 and sunny!  So today:  My new "coral" tee from Old Navy (so stretchy and comfy) under my go-to J Crew Portland cardi in Melon.  I can't believe how much I've worn this cardigan... such a great color.  I got the idea to put the coral under melon from this fabulous Polyvore set!  Since I am going for a pedicure after volunteering in First Grade this morning, I must break out my gold metallic Coach thong sandals, right??  I bought these last year and just love, love them.  They are a little different than the ones in the Polyvore but same color logo fabric/basic style.  The PV also shows my navy J Crew Cafe Capris but I'm wearing some ON denim capris from a few years ago.

Old Navy Weekend Report

First off, ON had a great promotion going on when I was in on Saturday morning... I don't know how long they are doing this: Buy a green reusable tote for $1 and you get 10% off your entire in-store purchase.  If you are a cardholder, you get the tote free and anything you can stuff in it is 20% off.  I don't have the card, so I paid $1 and got my 10% discount.  I love this promotion!  Now I won't be bringing home all those ON plastic bags!

I saw the Drawstring Linen Pants on a rack and thought I'd just give them a try - I didn't think they'd be very flattering but I've been wanting a pair of linen wider leg pants for summer.  I put them on, and loved them!  Big surprise here!  So these went in the tote in color "Coffee Grounds".  (Why couldn't it just be "Coffee"... coffee grounds brings up images of what you throw in the garbage...  I'm all for creativity, but sometimes I don't get the ON color names!)  

So then I tried on the Gauzy Cross-Front Babydoll.  Oh my, oh my.  These are c-u-t-e cute.  I liked them so much that I bought two colors:  white and green.  I thought they were $15 but that sign was for the shorts below them (that print is so small!) but even when they rang up $19.50 I still bought two.  That's how much I liked them.  They have a double layer of fabric so they aren't too sheer.

Next... the tee table.  I tried on the Slub Knit Nature Graphic Tee in Heather Gray (now that color name makes sense!) and also the Slub Knit Sea Graphic Tee in Ash Heather (I would call it Oatmeal).  The coral print is fabulous, but I do love me some coral!  The knit almost looks/feels like it has a little linen in it.  The website says both tees are 100% cotton - My gray dragonfly tee does say that on the tee, but the coral one says it is 70% cotton, 30% polyester.  They feel the same to me.  These are $14.50 but again I was willing to pay full price since I really, really liked them.

My last stop was the cami table, where they had the V Neck Layering Camis on promotion for $5.00 (regularly $8.50).  I picked up "Dark Sea Blue" (Navy) and "Bright White".  Can always use these!

OOD 4.18.09: Shopping Spree

For shopping on Saturday I wore my new Compass tee under my ever-trusty ON navy cardigan.  I am getting so much use out of this little cardigan - my cost per wear is going to be pennies soon!  Also wore some Steve Madden cork wedges - not the exact same as the Ployvore - they are more saddle-colored and are slides.  (No sandal pics until I get a pedicure!)  Pretty comfy... they took me from home to Target to Old Navy to J Crew and back.  I did switch out to Uggs for the tulip fields in the afternoon though... good thing... it was very muddy!  It's funny... I did see women teetering along in fancy sandals and heels... the things we do for fashion!
