Today's Target Finds {Summery Tops}

Last year around this time Target came out with the fabulous Teagan Tunic (that I'll be wearing again soon) so I was hoping they'd have another great print this year and I ran across it today: The Callie Tunic in Brown.

It is pretty sheer, so when not wearing it over a swimsuit I'll wear a cami. I'm picturing it with white jeans and TB sandals. The trim on this is a nice mustard-gold and the swirly pattern is done in that with white and a lovely sea blue. The body of this is loose and flowy but the arms are cut a little more fitted so I went with a medium.

The other summer vacation-in-mind top I bought today is this Xhiliration tank. Again I went with medium as the small didn't seem to have quite enough coverage. The straps are adjustable and the crinkly fabric is a nice medium weight. The lacey details are beautiful, though they don't continue around the back - there is elastic at the back of the empire waist for a comfy snug fit. The back bottom hem is plain. I saw this one in quite a few colors and navy was my favorite. I can't find it online but it may just be too new. The tag says XHIL TANK NAVY/274426, 282 02 1014, and it is priced at $17.99.

All of the promos out there have been getting me shopping lately. My recent J Crew and Saks F&F buys are on Polyvore (link on sidebar) and I'll try to get some reviews up soon after I receive them. Banana Republic also has 30% off your entire online order today (code BRKING30) and Ann Taylor Loft has 40% off (excludes swimwear), also today only with code SHOP40.

Turquoise Nails, White Tulips, {and Lesley's Lion Cut}

I just heard that this April looks to be the coldest on record for our area. Brrrrrr... Despite wearing a sweater and boots today I have still been getting ready for the Spring that is sure to come eventually.

OPI Austin-tatious Turquoise
I just had to give this color a whirl a week or two ago. I'm now wearing OPI Strawberry Margarita, but this was fun for a few days. I may try it again on toes.

I have lots of warm colors around our house, so I love to have white flowers, especially this time of year. I think they add such a fresh, clean touch.

This is our girl Lesley. She's usually super furry and fluffy and looks about three times this size. Every Spring she gets a "lion cut" so she's not too hot for Summer. I think she likes it.

I'd love to know what changes people make to get ready for Spring!

LC Lauren Conrad Polka Dot Chiffon Top

I spotted the LC Lauren Conrad Polka Dot Chiffon Top in this Polyvore at Kohl's recently as I rushed down an aisle on my way to get a Scooby Doo tee for my son. I know Lauren Conrad is on TV and has a book but I've never watched her show(s)? so I never expected to be shopping her line... but I love this! It is has a great color, fun print, and nice fit. It is very lightweight and definitely sheer so requires a cami. Easy care also - I machine washed on gentle in a mesh bag and hung it up to dry and it looks just as it did on the hanger in store. I think this one may be going to Europe with me this Summer.

OOTD 4.20.11

I hope everyone had a lovely weekend -- we had a wonderful Easter with family. I've got lots of posts, but running short on time lately. I'll try to post some new make-up buys soon :)

Sisal Bunnies

I recently added this sweet sisal bunny centerpiece from World Market to my Easter deco collection. These bunnies are in the same style as the ones they were selling last year so fit in perfectly around here. This little basket will be filled with decorated eggs very soon!

One of the bunnies from last year (I think he needs a fancy new bow!):

OOTD 4.15.11 {more stripes}

Ann Taylor and Loft currently have their entire stores marked 40% off (started Thursday; don't know how long it is running). Online code is TAKE40. I bought the Wide Stripe Boatneck Sweater and wore it yesterday for a little shopping and lunch at Nordstrom.

OOTD 4.13.11 {simple stripes}

I am really loving a French sailor-inspired striped shirt these days. I've recently purchased at LL Bean, H&M and J Crew. Lands' End also has a nice one - I bought a navy with white from them last year and they have a great little girls' version too.

Here's my OOTD yesterday, and below, the H&M and a J Crew version. I've also added a couple shots of Jean Seberg and Audrey Hepburn in their classic stripes.

LL Bean French Sailor's Shirt in Cream/Navy, Nordstrom BP Fringe Wrap in a pale pink

H&M tee - this one is a darker taupe; I bought the same tee in white with stripes last year

This J Crew Factory version is a hoodie.

Pink Sunglasses {the Versace 4186}

pic from amazon.com

Awhile back Kyle Richards wore a pair of pink sunglasses on RHOBH. I'd never really thought much about pink sunglasses, but I like pink and I like sunglasses - so I thought I'd start looking around. Kyle tweeted that hers were by Dolce & Gabbana. After a little searching, they didn't seem to be in stock in stores so I started keeping an eye out for something similar.

After dinner at Duke's Waikiki last Tuesday, my husband wanted to stop in at the sunglass shop next door where I happened upon the Versace 4186 Pink Gradient - and tried them on. And tried them on again. And maybe again. My husband offered to get them for me but I felt like it was a bit of an impulse buy... and pretty much anything over $30 I need to think about.

I waited and thought that evening. The next morning I was thinking about them again, so I did an online search from our hotel room and found them at amazon.com (for nearly $50 less). I ordered and they arrived a few days ago (super fast shipping from SunTimeOnline, thank you).

The lenses are "violet gradient" and everything looks very rosy through the top, more clear/gray tint through the bottom. They are not as big as the (oversized) Guccis I am usually wearing - just a nice medium size. The frames are pink but not super bright. Nice hue - and versatile enough to wear with lots of outfits. I'm going to think of this pink as a neutral.

The Lunar Cycles Top {Anthropologie}

I absolutely love the Lunar Cycles Top from Anthropologie. It's a little boho/70's, a little lacy/feminine, and in a nice solid that can be accessorized a million ways. Flowy and light to keep you cool, but not shapeless. I was really happy to find it in-store after seeing that it sold out online pretty quickly. There may still be some in stores, but during my hunt I discovered that it is by The Addison Story and is available in "ivory" (I'd call mine white) at Saks Fifth Avenue online (currently in XS, S and M). The Saks description says theirs is an exclusive and comes with a camisole underpinning - the one I have from Anthro did not.

I wore this when we visited Pearl Harbor last week.

Hawaii OOTDs

Here are some outfit pics from our recent trip to Oahu. We are now back to the gray and cool Pacific Northwest - but we've had some nice sunbreaks and I've been able to wear my new pink sunglasses (post soon) I discovered in Honolulu and I just got a manicure in a *bright* color from the OPI Texas collection so I am in a sunshine-y mood.

Back to last week:

Loft Lounge-y cover up dress (last year), TB flip flops, Gucci Oversized Fade Sunglasses

Old Navy dress (last year), Loft cardigan, Jack Rogers Navajo sandal in gold, Target earrings

close-up of Target earrings

Okay, this barely qualifies as an outfit but I wanted to show these great roll-over jersey skirts that Old Navy has right now. They can also be pulled up and worn as a (rather short) strapless dress - great for covering up for the pool. I wore one in Black Jack over my swimsuit (Liberty of London for Target) in the morning and then wore it with a tee later in the afternoon:

J Crew Max and Molly tee, ON skirt

I have one more Hawaii OOTD and some scenic/hotel/restaurant pics, as well as some recent Target, Old Navy and Nordstrom buys I will try to post soon. Hope everyone is starting out a great week!

Packing for Hawaii

When I'm packing for a trip I start thinking about wardrobes way ahead of time and then usually have little piles of outfits on our bedroom floor for days... it helps me edit and make sure my three children and I have just the right thing for different activities without going overboard. I think it's also part of the lovely dreaming and planning stage of travel that I enjoy so much. (My husband does his own packing but I do usually have a little input.)

I am already thinking about our next vacation, even though it is months away, because our travel is going to be much more varied and extensive. Oahu was pretty easy: just pool, beach, eating and a little sightseeing.

I pack my jewelry inside a smaller purse and tuck it in my carry-on. I am loving the Louis Vuitton Eva for taking on trips... you can use it with the shorter chain in the evening and with the longer cross-body strap for travel/shopping during the day. It'll just hold my cards, keys, cash, camera, phone and a lipstick.

Travel outfits were hanging and ready to throw on for an early morning flight. Coordinating colors help me keep track of everyone at the airport. I joked about putting my husband in a polo the same color as our son's... next time I probably should.

My children each take a backpack as a carry-on and I always put in a ziplock baggie with an extra outfit and swimsuit... in the case of lost luggage, we can still head right to the pool! (I do this for myself too.)

I'll post some OOTDs and sightseeing pics soon :)

OOTE 4.5.11 {Dinner at Duke's}

Duke's is one of our favorite places to go on Oahu. This was Tuesday night:

Dinner at Duke's

Loft maxi dress in black (last year), Loft cardi, Tory Burch flip flops

Sauteed Mac Nut and Herb Crusted Mahi Mahi (preceded by that great salad bar and a Lava Flow cocktail)

And after, a little stroll through the International Market across the street and a beach walk back to our hotel:

shopping for shell necklaces (7 for $5!)

More Hawaii pics coming soon :)
